This quote beautifully captures the essential role of play in a child’s life. Play is not just fun — it’s a powerful learning experience. Through various types of play — outdoor play, active play, quiet play, solitary play, parallel play, and cooperative play — children naturally engage in learning.
They expand their vocabulary, develop gross and fine motor skills, and, most importantly, learn how to relate to others and understand the space around them. Play is a child’s first classroom — and every type of play contributes to their emotional, social, and cognitive development.
That’s why it’s so important to value and encourage diverse forms of play. It’s not just about keeping children entertained — it’s about helping them grow, explore, and thrive.

Esta cita resume perfectamente la importancia del juego en la vida de los niños. Jugar no es solo divertido, es también una experiencia de aprendizaje fundamental.
A través de distintos tipos de juego —juego al aire libre, juego activo, tranquilo, solitario, paralelo o cooperativo— los niños se involucran de manera natural con el aprendizaje.
Enriquecen su vocabulario, desarrollan habilidades motoras gruesas y finas, y lo más importante, aprenden a relacionarse con los demás y con el espacio que los rodea. El juego es su primera aula, y cada tipo de juego aporta a su desarrollo emocional, social y cognitivo.
Por eso, es tan importante valorar y fomentar las diversas formas de juego. No se trata solo de entretener, sino de ayudarlos a crecer, explorar y desarrollarse plenamente.

​Beyond Labels: Humanity First
I often hear the word “lefty” thrown around with anger, as if caring for others were something to be ashamed of. Let me be clear: I don’t identify as “lefty” or “righty.” I don’t follow a political agenda. I follow my conscience.
I believe that every person — regardless of where they are born, what they look like, or how much money they have — deserves the right to live with dignity. That means access to education, healthcare, and basic needs. Not because I hate the rich or envy success. I don’t. I admire those who work hard and achieve their dreams.
But I also believe that success should not be built on the suffering or neglect of others. I do not believe in a “free pass” or giving everything away without effort. I believe in opportunity — real, meaningful opportunity — for everyone, especially for the children who are born into hardship through no fault of their own.
Empathy, ethics, and fairness are not political ideologies. They are moral foundations. If standing up for those values makes me “a lefty” in someone’s eyes, so be it. I’d rather be called that than turn my back on humanity.

Más allá de las etiquetas: primero la humanidad
A menudo escucho que se usa la palabra “izquierdista” con rabia, como si preocuparse por los demás fuera motivo de vergüenza. Quiero dejar algo claro: no me identifico como de izquierda ni de derecha. No sigo una agenda política. Sigo mi conciencia.
Creo que toda persona —sin importar dónde haya nacido, cómo se vea o cuánto dinero tenga— merece vivir con dignidad. Eso significa acceso a la educación, a la salud y a sus necesidades básicas. No porque odie a los ricos o envidie el éxito. No es así. Admiro a quienes trabajan duro y cumplen sus sueños.
Pero también creo que el éxito no debe construirse sobre el sufrimiento o el abandono de los demás. No creo en regalarlo todo ni en el “pase libre.” Creo en la oportunidad —real y significativa— para todos, especialmente para los niños que nacen en la pobreza sin haberlo elegido.
La empatía, la ética y la justicia no son ideologías políticas. Son principios morales. Si defender esos valores hace que algunos me llamen “izquierdista,” que así sea. Prefiero eso a darle la espalda a la humanidad.

Aceptar las diferencias en creencias, formas de vida, fe, política o identidad sexual es importante por una razón fundamental: todas las personas merecen respeto simplemente por ser seres humanos. Vivimos en sociedad, y la base de la convivencia debe ser ese principio. No se trata de estar de acuerdo con todo, sino de reconocer el valor y la dignidad de cada ser humano, incluso cuando no compartimos su forma de vida.
Sin embargo, el respeto no debe ser unilateral. Promover los derechos de las minorías no significa quedarse callado cuando sentimos que esos mismos grupos, o quienes los representan, están vulnerando los derechos de otros. La verdadera justicia se construye en equilibrio, y no puede favorecer a unos a costa de otros.
Las creencias, la fe, la orientación sexual o política son decisiones personales y deben ser respetadas. El problema aparece cuando esas diferencias buscan imponerse, o cuando algunos se sienten con derecho a estar por encima de los demás. Eso no construye inclusión, sino división y resentimiento.
Y cuando hablamos de niños —los más vulnerables y en formación— debemos ser especialmente cuidadosos. La educación debe proteger su derecho a comprender el mundo con claridad, sin confusión innecesaria. Introducir temas complejos sin criterio pedagógico o fuera de contexto puede confundir más que formar.
No se trata de excluir, sino de actuar con sensatez. Por ejemplo, la participación de mujeres trans en deportes femeninos puede ser vista como un avance en derechos para unas personas, pero también como una injusticia para mujeres que compiten con desventaja física. Ambas perspectivas merecen ser escuchadas con respeto.
O cuando vemos talleres dirigidos a niños pequeños con enfoques exclusivamente centrados en performances como el drag, fuera de un contexto teatral o artístico, es legítimo preguntarnos: ¿Estamos educando o ideologizando? ¿Estamos integrando o imponiendo?
No es malicia. No es odio. Es una llamada a pensar con calma y proteger con honestidad, sobre todo a quienes aún están construyendo su identidad y comprensión del mundo.

-Promover derechos no significa excluir otros.
-Ser inclusivos no significa imponer ideologías.
-Y proteger a los niños siempre debe ser una prioridad, no un riesgo político.

Reflection: Respect Must Be for Everyone, Not Just for Some.
Accepting differences in beliefs, lifestyles, faith, politics, or sexual identity is important for a simple yet powerful reason: all human beings deserve respect simply because they are human. We live in society, and the foundation of coexistence must be that every person, without exception, is treated with dignity—even when we do not agree with their way of life.
However, respect should never be one-sided. Promoting the rights of minorities should not mean remaining silent when those same groups, or their representatives, may be infringing on the rights of others. True justice is built on balance, not favoritism.
Beliefs, faith, and sexual or political orientation are personal choices that deserve respect. The issue arises when differences are imposed, or when some feel they are entitled to stand above others. This doesn’t promote inclusion—it creates resentment and division.
When it comes to children—those who are most vulnerable and still forming their identity—our responsibility is even greater. Education should protect their right to grow with clarity and emotional security. Introducing complex or adult themes without context or proper guidance can confuse more than it educates.
This is not about exclusion, but about prudence. For instance, when transgender women compete in female sports, it may be viewed as a step forward by some, but as an injustice by others. Both perspectives deserve to be heard respectfully.
And when workshops focused solely on drag performance are introduced to young children—outside of a theatrical or educational context—it’s fair to ask: Are we educating or ideologizing? Are we integrating or imposing?
This is not malice. Not hatred. It is a call to think calmly and protect responsibly, especially those still discovering the world and themselves.

-Defending respect doesn’t mean staying silent.
-Promoting rights doesn’t mean silencing others.
-Being inclusive doesn’t mean imposing ideologies.
-And protecting children should never be political—it should be a shared responsibility.

This quote by Borges expresses, to me, the relief we feel when we manage to forget what hurt us, without clinging to revenge or holding on to painful memories.
To forgive and forget doesn’t mean to justify what we lived, or to deny our feelings.
It means to set ourselves free.
Free from the emotional weight that keeps us from moving forward and living in peace.
And that kind of freedom is often more for ourselves than for the person or situation that caused us pain.
Forgetting becomes a way to protect our emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Of course, it’s not immediate. There’s a necessary and healthy stage where we react, feel, and express our discomfort or sorrow.
But it should not become a permanent state.
Because when we stay trapped in resentment, we are the ones who suffer the most.
Letting go is not weakness—it is strength.
And forgetting, as Borges suggests, may be the deepest form of forgiveness.

Esta cita de Borges expresa, para mí, el alivio que sentimos cuando logramos olvidar aquello que nos hizo daño, sin quedarnos atrapados en el deseo de venganza ni en el peso de los recuerdos dolorosos.
Perdonar y olvidar no significa justificar lo vivido, ni negar nuestras emociones.
Significa liberarnos.
Liberarnos del peso emocional que nos impide avanzar y vivir en paz.
Y esa liberación es, en muchos casos, más por nosotros mismos que por lo que pasó o por quien nos hirió.
Olvidar es una forma de cuidar nuestra salud emocional, mental y espiritual.
Claro que no ocurre de inmediato. Existe una etapa necesaria y saludable en la que reaccionamos, sentimos, expresamos nuestro malestar o dolor.
Pero no debe convertirse en un estado permanente.
Porque cuando permanecemos atrapados en el resentimiento, los más perjudicados terminamos siendo nosotros mismos.
Soltar no es debilidad, es fortaleza.
Y olvidar, como nos sugiere Borges, puede ser el perdón más profundo.
