Fall is a wonderful time of year filled with color, change, and discovery! 
It’s the perfect season to help children explore nature and learn about how the world around them gets ready for winter.
Here are four fun and easy facts about fall for kids:

1. Leaves change color 
   As the weather cools, trees stop making chlorophyll — the green pigment that helps them make food from sunlight. Without it, the leaves show their hidden red, yellow, and orange colors!
   
2. Animals prepare for winter 
   Many animals collect and store food, while others grow thicker fur to stay warm during the cold months ahead.
   
3. Pumpkins are fruits! 
   That’s right — pumpkins grow on vines just like melons, which means they’re actually fruits, not vegetables.
   
4. Days get shorter 
   In fall, the sun sets earlier and rises later. That’s why days feel shorter and nights seem longer.
