Lou is a cheerful young lion who adores his magnificent mane. One morning, he wakes up to find that his mane has disappeared! Terrified and anxious, Lou sets off on an adventure through the jungle to find it. Along the way, he calls for help and discovers that friends—Giraffe, Snake, and Monkey—are willing to support him. Together, they search high and low, teaching Lou that friendship, reassurance, and teamwork are more important than anything lost. The story also explores sibling relationships, showing how younger siblings admire and learn from their older brothers and sisters.

Author's Words

Lou and His Mane is particularly special to me because it is my first published story. I shared it many times with my own children in daycare, and it remained in my mind until I wrote it down. I created Lou to teach empathy, cooperation, solidarity, and compassion, showing young readers that friends and family can help us face our fears while reminding us of our worth.
