GROUNDHOG'S DAY
Groundhog Day
(to the tune of "Where is Thumbkin? / Frere Jacques") Where is groundhog? Where is groundhog? (Thumb behind back) Here I am! Here I am! (Bring thumb forward) Shadows on this sunny day, (wiggle thumb) Frighten groundhogs all away. (Thumb behind back) Winter will stay! Winter will stay! Groundhog's Day, I looked Around
Groundhog's Day, I looked around, Saw my shadow on the ground Yes, I saw my shadow, when I took a peek That means winter 6 more weeks! |
Here's a Little Groundhog
(to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot") Here's a little groundhog, furry and brown, He's popping up to look around. If he sees his shadow, down he'll go. Then six more weeks of winter - Oh No!! Five Groundhog (Rhyme)
The first groundhog digs a home in the fall, and curls up all winter rolled up like a ball. The second groundhog comes out of his lair On February second to get some fresh air. The third groundhog looks up at the sun He ten sees his shadow and goes on the run The fourth groundhog at his dark shadow peeks He goes into his deep home for six more weeks. The fifth groundhog hopes that skies will be grey So that he'll know that spring's on its way. |
"Mr. Groundhog" for teachers and parents of young children..Carolee's Songs for Kids
There is a little mole, lives in a little hole and stays inside there quite contentedly But every single year in February He pokes his nose out, looks around to see what he can see (chorus) Hey, Mr. Groundhog......Mr.Groundhog Did you see your shadow today? Mr. Groundhog.....Mr. Groundhog Is it six more weeks of winter or is spring on its way This weather we've been having is getting really old I'm tired of the rain, and I'm tired of the cold I long to go outside and feel the sunshine on my face And play a little baseball Or run a little race (chorus) It was so cold this morning that I couldn't feel my toes And icicles were forming on the hairs inside my nose The wind blew off my hat, and I slipped on the ice I should have stayed in bed where it was warm and snug and nice (chorus) Please tell me Mr. Groundhog When can we go out and play? |
