​Activities for Alphabetization Day

1. Alphabet Treasure Hunt
   
   • Hide letters (flashcards or magnetic letters) around the classroom or house.
     
   • Children must find them and say a word that begins with that letter.
     
2. Build a Word Game
   
   • Give children letter tiles or cards.
     
   • Challenge them to form short words (e.g., cat, sun, map).
     
   • For younger children: match letters to pictures.
     
3. Story Chain with Letters
   
   • Each child adds a sentence to a story, starting with a letter from the alphabet in order (A, then B, then C, etc.).
     
   • Example: "A dog went to the park. But he lost his ball. Can you guess who helped him?"
     
4. Alphabet Art
   
   • Children decorate a large letter with drawings of things that begin with that letter.
     
   • Example: Letter "M" with moons, mice, and mangoes.
     
5. Read-Aloud Corner
   
   • Choose a short story and read aloud together.
     
   • Pause to point out letters or ask children to find words beginning with a certain letter.
     
6. Letter Collage
   
   • Provide old magazines or newspapers.
     
   • Kids cut out letters to create their name or a word.
     
7. Word Bingo
   
   • Make bingo cards with letters or simple words.
     
   • Call out letters/words and let kids mark them until someone shouts “Bingo!”
     
8. Alphabet Song Parade
   
   • Sing the alphabet song together.
     
   • Add movements (clapping, stomping, jumping) for extra fun.
