This poem was written by Christina Rossetti, a famous English poet who loved writing about nature, seasons, and feelings. She lived in the 1800s and is especially known for poems that describe cold weather, quiet days, and gentle winter scenes.
The poem “February” is part of her poetry collection Verses, where she captured the beauty of winter — the cold air, falling leaves, and the calm that comes with snowy days. This poem is like a salute to winter, reminding us that even cold and snowy days have their own kind of magic. February may be chilly, but it invites us to slow down, stay cozy, and enjoy stories, poems, and imagination.

They help us explore not only the world around us, but also ourselves. Through books, we are allowed to grow thoughtfully, emotionally, and intellectually.
Books provide answers, open our minds, and show us new paths. They expand our imagination, creativity, and vocabulary, allowing us to see the world from different angles and perspectives. Whether fiction or non-fiction, books fill our lives with color, opportunities, knowledge, and new ways of thinking. They invite us to experience life, feel deeply, and understand the richness and diversity of the world around us.
Reading aloud is more than sharing a story—it is an act of connection. When an adult reads to a child, something deeper than words happens. A voice becomes a bridge, carrying emotion, rhythm, and meaning. Children do not only hear language; they feel it.
Through reading aloud, children learn how stories sound before they learn how to read them on their own. They absorb vocabulary, sentence structure, and the music of language naturally, without pressure. A book becomes a safe space where curiosity is welcomed and imagination is free. But perhaps the most important gift of reading aloud is emotional. It teaches children to listen, to reflect, and to empathize. Stories help them recognize feelings—their own and those of others—and gently guide them in understanding the world. In a fast and noisy world, reading aloud slows time. It tells children: You matter. This moment matters. And those moments stay with them long after the book is closed. |
