This is the time to build the foundation of character and cognitive abilities children require to succeed in school and life. But what can we do as parents or teachers to help them develop their character and potential cognitive skills?  We can give them the love and respect that they deserve. We can surround them with books, encourage them to explore, stimulate their curiosity, ask, and answer questions, and make them think outside the box. We can promote social interaction and play with others. Stimulate and encourage dramatic play and ways to express themselves and their creativity.  Those are some things we adults can do to help our children.
